This Wednesday, the founder of the WikiLeaks platform, Julian Assange, arrived in Australia, after reaching a plea agreement with the US justice system that put an end to more than a decade of persecution against the journalist.

The plane that carried Assange landed around 07:40 (local time), at Canberra International Airport after a seven-hour flight, after departing from Saipan, in the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory.

“After enduring almost 14 years of arbitrary detention in the United Kingdom, 5 years in maximum security imprisonment, for his innovative editorial work with WikiLeaks, Julian Assange has returned home on Australian soil. Free at last.” highlighted the information platform, on the social network X.
