One month after the criminal aggression of the Donald Trump administration against the Venezuelan people, which caused more than 100 deaths, and the kidnapping of Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the First Lady and Deputy Cilia Flores, a large march was held in Brussels, Belgium, demanding their immediate release.

The march started from the headquarters of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and concluded its tour in the central Albertine Square, passing through the emblematic Mont des Arts of the Belgian capital.

At the beginning of the demonstration, representatives of solidarity groups, including the Belgian Committee for Peace in Venezuela, Latin America and the Caribbean, International Anti-Fascist Chapter Belgium, Latin American Solidarity Coordinator, Collective Venezuela 13 de Abril, Association of Refugees from Latin America and the Caribbean in Belgium (ARLAC), Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity (REDH) Belgian Chapter and the Solidarity Movement International (INTAL), they handed over to the Belgian Foreign Ministry a letter addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, Maxime Prévot, in which they state that “Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Deputy Cilia Flores were cowardly kidnapped, following orders from President Trump, by military forces led by the CIA of the United States (USA), through aggression criminal military that caused the death of nearly 200 people in Caracas and other Venezuelan states”.

In the letter, they regret “the almost total absence of action” on the part of the Belgian Government and ask that “Belgium unambiguously condemn the military aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president and first lady”.

In Albertine Square, representatives of INTAL, ARLAC, Cubanism, the Palestinian cause and the Belgian Communist Party took the floor, who condemned the criminal action of the Donald Trump administration against the South American country and demanded the release of the presidential couple.

Ambassador Jorge Valero, head of the Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the European Union (EU), also demanded the release of President Maduro and Deputy Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped by the U.S. government on January 3, which constitutes a dangerous precedent for the region and the world.

He maintained that Venezuela remains firm, under the leadership of the President in Charge Delcy Rodríguez, in its will to fight together for the defense of its sovereignty and peace.

In addition, he stressed that the president continues the work initiated by Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez and followed by President Maduro.

Valero thanked, on behalf of the President in Charge and Foreign Minister Yván Gil, for the support provided by Belgian associations to the Bolivarian Government and the Venezuelan people.

During the march through the central streets and avenues of the Belgian capital, abundant material was distributed to passers-by condemning the imperialist assault and demanding the release of the President and the First Lady.
