Within the framework of the international solidarity movement “Bring Them Back”, a demonstration took place in Rome in front of the Embassy of the United States (USA), one month after the unjustifiable military attack perpetrated against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, demanding the immediate release of the constitutional president Nicolás Maduro Moros and the representative Cilia Flores, who were arbitrarily arrested.
The demonstration, organized by solidarity organizations, popular and student movements, also coincided with the 34th anniversary of the Bolivarian Revolution, reaffirming the commitment of broad Italian social sectors to the defense of the sovereignty and self-determination of Latin American peoples.
The participating organizations, including Unione Sindacale di Base (usb) Cambiare Rotta, Osa, Potere al Popolo, Associazione Nazionale di Amicizia Italia-Cuba, Cred, Patria Socialista, Rete dei Comunisti and Piattaforma Progressiva Latinoamericana, expressed their solidarity with the Venezuelan people and denounced the attack on national sovereignty perpetrated in early January, as well as actions that constitute a violation of the fundamental principles of International Law and the self-determination of peoples.
They recalled that the so-called “recovery of the Monroe Doctrine” represents an attempt to impose U.S. domination in the Western Hemisphere and emphasized that the solidarity resistance of peoples must be manifested in the construction of autonomous, independent alternatives oriented towards social justice.
The mobilization was part of a national day of solidarity that was extended simultaneously to several Italian cities in support of the people and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
These expressions of support reflect a shared commitment to the universal values of sovereignty, self-determination and respect for international law. At the same time, they renew their call to the international community to restore the freedom, legality and dignity of the legitimate authorities of Venezuela.
