Luz Marina Vargas is the first woman to serve as technical director in Venezuelan basketball

Luz Marina Vargas made history this Wednesday by being the first woman to lead a professional team in national basketball.

This milestone was achieved by Vargas, in the Professional Basketball Super League (SPB), after being announced as the new coach of the Llaneros de Guárico for the rest of the season.

The information was released by the Llanero team through a message posted on their social networks: “The Llaneros de Guárico organization informs fans, media and the general public that Luz Marina Vargas will be the one to take over the management of the team for the rest of the season, being the first woman to lead a team in the history of professional basketball”.

Vargas assumes the technical direction of Llaneros after the dismissal of coach Oscar Silva and comes to serve as the team's technical assistant for four seasons.
