On the eve of the National Day of the Visual Artist, this May 9, the exhibition “Armando Reverón. A tropical view” in room 8 of the Caracas Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art (MACCAR), located in Parque Central.

The exhibition brings together 43 canvases by the Venezuelan artist Armando Reverón, considered one of the greatest exponents of the national plastic arts and a forerunner of 20th century poor art, with works that stand out for the use of light and shade as central elements of his aesthetic proposal.

The exhibition will allow the public to appreciate pieces related to landscaping and the nude, made using techniques such as watercolor, charcoal and oil, reflecting the artistic and experimental vision of the so-called “painter of light”.

According to the curatorial team, the exhibition also highlights Reverón's contribution to conceptual art, assemblage, textiles and installations, as well as his influence on different contemporary artistic trends.

The National Day of the Plastic Artist is celebrated every May 10 in honor of the birth of Reverón, an emblematic figure of Venezuelan painting and winner of the National Painting Prize in 1953.
