Mali's Minister of Foreign Affairs makes an offering to Bolivar in Caracas

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali, Abdoulaye Diop, on the occasion of his official visit to Venezuela, made a floral offering this Monday before the sarcophagus that holds the mortal remains of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, in the National Pantheon, in Caracas.

The ceremony was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Africa, Yuri Pimentel; the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Rubén Darío Molina, the Malian delegation and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country.

The solemn ceremony began with the intonation of the glorious notes of the national anthems of both nations, followed by the placement of the wreath and the signing of the Book of Acts.

During his stay in Caracas, the African diplomat will hold strategic meetings with senior authorities of the Bolivarian Government and the Legislative Branch, in order to strengthen cooperation ties between the two nations.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Mali were established on December 24, 1976. Starting in 1999, with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez to the Presidency of the Republic, and since 2013 under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro, the ties acquired a strategic character, materialized in the signing of 18 cooperation agreements in various areas.
