The 1st Trujillo State Control Court sentenced a 46-year-old citizen to 20 years in prison for the murder of his 28-year-old ex-partner.

According to a press release from the Public Ministry, such an event occurred on May 4 of this year in the Santiago parish; located in the Urdaneta municipality of the said entity.

According to the investigation, during that day the lady maintained telephone contact with the aggressor, who asked her to see each other in a clandestine manner. During the encounter, they had an argument and the perpetrator killed his ex-partner through mechanical asphyxiation; in addition to rupturing his trachea; causing cranial trauma and severe blows to the abdominal region. After that, he left the body in the undergrowth.

Because of this fact, the man was apprehended and as a result of the investigations, it was found that Quintero had previously been arrested for a complaint against him related to violence and harassment.

Relatives of the deceased reported, in interviews, that the victim often had arguments with her ex-partner and, despite this, they had intimate encounters separated from their acquaintances and family nucleus.

At the preliminary hearing, the 12th Trujillo Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed the accusation against Gerardo Antonio Quintero for the commission of the crime of aggravated femicide.

Once the defendant's admission of facts was heard, the 1st Control Court in that entity issued the above-mentioned conviction and ordered his detention in the Judicial Boarding School of Trujillo State.
