Mar del Plata is experiencing total interruption of gas supply

Criticism soon multiplied after the unprecedented lack of gas in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Neighbors and social media users hold Mayor Guillermo Montenegro directly responsible for what they consider to be a direct consequence of inaction and lack of planning.

On Thursday, the Argentinian spa town faced an unprecedented crisis: the cut in gas distribution forced the interruption of the sale of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), industrial activity and the provision of gastronomic and cultural services. The situation also affected the education sector, which had to cancel its activities.

Various citizen sectors question the policies of the mayor, whom they associate with President Javier Milei. Montenegro has adopted decisions similar to those of the National Executive, including the stoppage of local public works. The lack of investment is identified as one of the main causes of energy collapse, in a context of a polar wave that accentuates residential and commercial demand.

According to what was published on the website of the Registered Journal, Mar del Plata is thus facing an episode without precedent in its history, in the midst of a heated social climate and demands that demand concrete explanations from the authorities.
