In Maracaibo, solid waste collection through household service increased to 1,260 tons per day, with the addition of 30 new compacting units of 18 cubic yards each, the Mayor's Office of the city of Marabina reported on its Instagram account.
The acquisition of the trucks was achieved through an agreement between the Urban Cleaning Institute (IMAU) of the Bolivarian Mayor's Office of Maracaibo and the company Environmental Technological Solutions (SOTAM) and will be destined for 15 of the 18 parishes in the Zulian capital.
In this regard, the general director of Public Services and president in charge of the IMAU, Joemel Robles, explained that “with these units, 420 tons per day will be collected, increasing the figure to a total of 1,260 tons of waste per day and 37,800 tons per month in an efficient and adequate manner.”
He also explained that now the Maracaibo municipality has a total of 90 compactors, “which will allow us, starting February 1, for 15 parishes to join the new solid waste management model with daily daytime collection, that is, from Monday to Saturday from 6:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon.”
“Marabinos will no longer have to ask what days to harvest because it will be every day,” he announced.
He also specified that the parishes that will be collected from Monday to Saturday are Bolívar, Cacique Mara, Caracciolo Parra Pérez, Chiquinquirá, Cecilio Acosta, Coquivacoa, Cristo de Aranza, Francisco Eugenio Bustamante, Ildefonso Vásquez, Juana de Ávila, Luis Hurtado Higuera, Manuel Dagnino, Olegario Villalobos, Raúl Leoni and Saint Lucía.
While Venancio Pulgar will have a collection on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and Antonio Borjas Romero with San Isidro on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Robles indicated that road corridors and the central area will be served from Monday to Sunday during the day and night hours.
