Maturín Civil Protection carried out a simulation of handling hazardous materials

The officials of Civil Protection and Disaster Management Maturín (Pcad-Maturín) and the Municipal Police of Maturín (POLIMATURÍN) carried out a simulation of handling hazardous materials as new forms of comprehensive training and offering a better response when an incident occurred in the capital city.

Regarding the activity, Danielys Rivas, director of Public Security at the Mayor's Office, reported that officials acquired skills in the use of special suits, self-contained equipment, teamwork, handling and storage of these products, among other security elements.

He certified that this is part of a training program to provide better care in case of emergencies.

“We carried out a first simulation of the management of hazardous materials in the spaces of Plaza Rómulo Gallego, as a training program that began with a class on the legal and theoretical framework,” he said.

Rivas assured that this drill was supervised by the specialist in hazardous materials management of the Monagas State Fire Department, José Pérez, whose main objective is to evaluate the response capacity of a brigade or team to a spill, the coordination and technical knowledge of the personnel in the face of an event that could jeopardize the health of the people of Maturín.
