The Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT) will certify 100 engineers who will be part of the Infrastructure, Building and Housing Inspection Brigades, with the purpose of strengthening the State's technical capacity for evaluating buildings, identifying risks and issuing specialized recommendations in areas impacted by the strong earthquakes recorded on June 24.
These brigades will form part of the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Housing Habitability and General Infrastructure, an instance created by the President in Charge, Delcy Rodríguez, to coordinate inspections and technical assessment of structures in prioritized states.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, explained that these brigades will be made up of specialized professionals in the construction area, who will work in an articulated manner with bodies of engineers, professional associations, universities and competent bodies.
As part of this deployment, the ministry will provide technical, logistical and operational support to certified brigades, ensuring that inspection work is carried out under security protocols and institutional coordination.
The minister, according to a press release, stressed that “our brigades will accompany the competent bodies”, while explaining that “those who can mobilize must be identified. First with their vests, fundamental, which the Ministry is going to provide them. Your safety helmets, your water and your hydration. We are here to provide support as well.”
He stressed that the certification will make it possible to consolidate a team highly qualified to carry out inspections with scientific criteria, relying on technological tools, cartographic surveys, satellite images and field checks.
