MINEC reports rescue of cardon turtle eggs at Playa La Sabana

The Minister of the Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Freddy Ñañez, reported that in the state of La Guaira, the spawning of a cardon turtle was recorded at Playa La Sabana, in Caruao, and the release of 81 turtles during activities related to World Turtle Day and the Day of Biological Diversity.

The spawning was in the La Boca sector of Playa La Sabana, where volunteers from the area monitored and verified the animal's good health during the process. The turtle laid a total of 143 eggs. Of that number, 82 were fertile and were transferred to the sector's nursery to protect their development and strengthen efforts to protect the species.

In parallel, 81 turtles were released and advanced naturally to the sea as part of the conservation actions carried out in the coastal entity.
