Minister Ana María Sanjuán: Legal Review Process Strengthens Democratic Coexistence

The executive secretary of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence and Minister of Popular Power for University Education, Ana María Sanjuán, expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in the legal review process that allowed 131 people to leave.
In a special program on Venezolana de Televisión, he explained that these actions are carried out in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, the Office of the Ombudsman and the courts, after the Amnesty Law completed the cycle of powers granted to the legislative commission responsible for its application.
He indicated that, after this process, some family members stated that their cases had not been included in the provisions of the Law, which is why the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, instructed them to attend to them through the Program.
In this regard, he explained that several meetings were held with the Attorney General and with human rights organizations to present proposals for cases that required review.
This work has led to several rounds of releases, including the one corresponding to August 14, which represents a significant step forward for families and for the path to recognition, reconciliation and democratic coexistence, he said.
The minister also recalled that the Program maintained permanent coordination with the parliamentary committee responsible for the application of the Amnesty Law and with the judicial system, which made it possible to address family concerns, record cases one by one and maintain a continuous evaluation process with the Public Prosecutor's Office.
He stressed that the objective is to progressively develop the necessary mechanisms to guarantee spaces for dialogue, understanding and attention to situations that hinder full democratic coexistence, especially those derived from political differences.
He also stated that the Program promotes a vision based on the recognition of all people, without distinction, as a fundamental condition for advancing the construction of the country.
Sanjuán sent a message of commitment to people who are not on the lists of those released.
“We are still working, we all know that this is a process, we know that this has some steps that have to be followed, there are some agreements to achieve and that we are still working and we are going to accompany the entire process that means improving the country's judicial system to have justice close to the citizen, just and that solves central problems that affect that coexistence and the peace that the Republic needs in order to move forward,” he said.
He also stressed that the Program maintains its commitment to accompany each stage related to the review of cases, with the purpose of contributing to the strengthening of the Venezuelan judicial system and moving towards justice close to the citizen, just and aimed at solving problems affecting democratic coexistence and peace in the Republic.
He stressed that this effort is part of a vision that seeks to address situations that have generated tensions and political differences, by promoting spaces for dialogue, mutual recognition and understanding, essential elements for advancing the construction of the country that Venezuelan society demands.
