Minister Francisco Garcés: Maiquetía reactivated 19 airlines after recovery work

The Minister of People's Power for Transportation (MPPT), Francisco Garcés, reported that air connectivity in Venezuela is making progress after the damages of June 24, with 11 international and eight domestic airlines active at Maiquetía International Airport.

At a press conference, Garcés said that the national airport system has made it possible to compensate part of the operations by activating and strengthening other terminals such as those in Maracay, Valencia, Barcelona, Barquisimeto, Maracaibo and Porlamar.

In his account on the social network Instagram, he specified that at the national level, the country recovered 65% of operations and passengers mobilized compared to the same period in 2025 and in the international segment, between September 2 and 7, there was a growth of 24% in passengers transported and 16% more operations compared to the same period of the previous year.

In Maiquetía, 49% of domestic operations and 46% of international operations have recovered prior to the seismic event. The authorities project a progressive increase in the coming months.

In the maritime sector, the Port of La Guaira is close to reaching 100% of its operational capacity, with an increase of more than 10% in the volume of cargo moved and about 8% in containers between August 2025 and August 2026.

For her part, the Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Daniella Cabello, stressed that the reactivation of connectivity is key to tourist flow to destinations such as La Guaira and Nueva Esparta.

Cabello reported that work is being done to reactivate international charter flights with markets in Poland, Russia, Germany and Argentina, as well as efforts to reintegrate the country into cruise circuits.

He explained that the charter operations to Margarita have mobilized more than 14,000 visitors.

In addition, in La Guaira, training programs are being implemented for beach service providers and the rehabilitation of affected establishments to promote the sector in the last months of 2026 and the beginning of 2027.
