The Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, reported that the Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (ABAE) continues to develop solutions for the study and monitoring of the country's waters.
The minister explained that specialists have applied GNSS technologies and remote sensing techniques with satellite images in Cayo Boca Seca, Cayo Pescadores, Cayo Sombrero, Los Juanes and Playa Mero, in the Morrocoy National Park, and added that “these studies make it possible to complement the data obtained in the field and consolidate strategic information for the determination of depths in shallow waters”.
Jiménez stressed that this initiative reinforces national capacities for sustainable land management and that, in addition, it promotes scientific research, the use of spatial data and the technological sovereignty of Venezuela.
The minister stated that, together with the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, the Bolivarian Government reaffirms its commitment to the generation of scientific knowledge at the service of the country, as established in the Sixth T of the Plan of the Seven Transformations.
