The Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, presented the HANDBOT LSV device, developed by young Eduardo Lobo and José León, from the state of Mérida, with the support of the Francisco J. Duarte Astronomy and Applied Technologies Research Center Foundation (CIDA).
The minister stressed that, from the National Scientific Seedbeds Program, robotics is promoted as a tool for young people's ideas to become applied solutions.
He explained that the HANDBOT LSV operates in real time through two translation flows: it interprets Venezuelan sign language for people who don't speak it and transforms speech into text to facilitate communication with people with hearing disabilities.
Jiménez pointed out that this development is part of the work that young people from all over the country do in projects aimed at inclusion and the social use of technology. He indicated that, together with President (E) Delcy Rodríguez, it is argued that teaching robotics is a training process that prepares new generations to build a country without communication barriers.
