Minister Julio León Heredia: Venezuela has reduced the need to import rice by 60%

This Monday, May 5, the Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia, highlighted that Venezuela is in the midst of a rice harvest, with record numbers.

“With this year's rice harvest, in this first quarter, the need for imports has decreased by 60%,” he said during the broadcast of the number broadcast of his program “With Maduro+”, hosted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

In this direction, he specified that in the Guárico state “we exceed 46,000 hectares, the estimate is six, but a yield of seven and eight thousand kilos per hectare has been obtained and with great expectations to achieve full production.”

Regarding the rice harvest, he explained that “practically ending up in Portuguesa and 75% in Guárico”.

In this context, León Heredia assured that Venezuela has a promising future and, in a short time, the objectives of achieving full production, with an emphasis on exports, have been met.
