The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, rejected the veto made by the Spanish authorities against the Venezuelan film festival that would be presented on March 17 and 24, in the capital of Spain, through the Casa de las Américas in Madrid.

Through the social network Telegram, the holder of the ministerial portfolio, questioned whether Spanish authorities would give in to pressure from the right to censor several films, including: Ali Primera (by Daniel Yegres), The Battle of the Bridges (by Carlos Azpurua) and Operation Orión (by Rubén Hernández).

Minister Villegas stressed that he had a telephone contact with the Venezuelan ambassador to Spain, Gladys Gutiérrez, and confirmed that “the suspension of the screenings was due to pressure from Isabel Díaz Ayuso, head of the Madrid government, a fan of Francisco Franco and José María Aznar.”
