Minister Ricardo Menéndez: Popular Consultation addresses specific needs of the people

“Popular consultations are an exercise of power by the people, and it is precisely a central issue, an epicenter of development,” said Ricardo Menéndez, the Sectorial Vice President and Minister of the People's Power of Planning, praising the next Consultation on March 8 as a mechanism to address specific needs in all communities in the country.
He expressed this during his participation in the course “Chávez Lives in Popular Power. Direct Democracy and Communal State”, where he explained that this process is part of the strengthening of participatory and leading democracy in Venezuela.
The head of Planning pointed out that these consultations are aimed at directly addressing specific problems in the territories, in statements to Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
“It's about solving concrete problems, about specific issues that exist in communities and that make it possible to move forward in changing living conditions,” he said.
He maximized the strategic importance of each of the consultations, and next March 8 will be the seventh since 2024, which has involved changes in various issues related to the needs of the community, such as the supply of drinking water, domestic gas, health, education, public space and everyday aspects of life in society. “In other words, there is a resolution of specific issues that are raised there and in addition there are the processes linked to the Social Comptroller's Office.”
He testified that he has been to different popular meetings where the folders are recorded with the details of the investment received and where he gives an account of each of the funded projects.
He confirmed that, in addition to all these issues related to the consultation, there is the element of the development of direct and participatory democracy, as a great platform and defense of sovereignty in Venezuela.
He also pointed out that this process of popular participation acquires special meaning in the context of the commemoration of March 5, the date of the planting of Commander Hugo Chávez.
“We are commemorating March 5, the challenge of defending all the dreams, the entire Chavista, Bolivarian imaginary, of the construction of our country,” he said.
