The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, said that the Venezuelan cultural movement is already prepared for this sectoral event.

Villegas indicated that the Venezuelan cultural movement is prepared so that, on the date determined, the Consultation of Cultural Projects will take place in Community Circuits throughout the country.

“If anyone wants to know why Venezuela has emerged unscathed from so many battles and negative omens, they must see in our traditions a collective phenomenon that occurs all year round for national cohesion around our identity,” said the head of the Culture portfolio.

Tamunangue will go to UNESCO

On the other hand, Ernesto Villegas specified that the cultural event of Tamunangue, in the state of Lara, is ready to be registered with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) as a cultural heritage of humanity.

“Tamunangue will soon be included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity, thanks to the efforts that the Bolivarian Government has made before UNESCO. We have some extraordinarily elaborate files on Tamunangue,” he said.

The Tamunangue is a tradition with centuries of history that forms part of the identity of the Venezuelan people. Their songs, dances and rituals are a living expression of Afro-descendant culture in the country.

The file that will be presented to UNESCO seeks the preservation of Tamunangue, highlighting in the document the cultural importance of this tradition and its role in the social cohesion of the people of Larense.
