The coordinator of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, Ernesto Villegas, announced a broad call to the various communication actors, in order to alert about the existence of media agendas and opinion matrices that evoke the climate of instability of April 2002,

“We are interested in calling on all factors of communication to tell each other what we have to say to each other,” he said, noting that it includes meetings with directors of television stations, radio stations, journalists, community media and influencers of the digital environment to strengthen the country's stability.

In this regard, during his interview on the program “A Pulso”, he confirmed that the intention is to specify these meetings in the immediate agenda to overcome episodes of conflict that society has already overcome. At the same time, he urged professionals in the area to avoid repeating confrontational agendas.

The Minister for Culture also recognized that current communication is more diverse than in past decades, so the State seeks a direct exchange of opinions with all sectors. “The central objective is to establish an ethical commitment that promotes a better practice of journalism and a more fluid relationship with official sources,” he said.

He emphasized the responsibility of those who form public opinion and noted that there are already auspicious contacts with representatives of the sector. In his vision, the normalization of national coexistence requires communicators to abandon radical positions and make assertive contributions.

“They must give their contribution in the sense of explaining and communicating in an assertive way,” he pointed out and reaffirmed that the public sector must also promote gestures that normalize the link with the different communication actors.
