This Tuesday, February 3rd, the Minister of Popular Power for Education (MPPE), Héctor Rodríguez, on the occasion of Carnival 2026, urged teachers not to request financial contributions from students, as well as “sophisticated disguises that stray from the pedagogical meaning of the occasion and that generate expenses for most families.”
In educational institutions, during carnival festivities, proposals must be developed that use available resources and reusable elements that promote learning and activate creativity, as set out in Newsletter No. 28 of January 27, published on the MPPE portal.
“It is inconvenient to ask students for financial contributions, in addition to making sophisticated costumes that stray from the pedagogical meaning of the occasion and create onerous burdens for most families,” the letter states.
In addition, the minutes point out, that this holiday should be a means of raising awareness about values, such as teamwork, responsibility to the environment and the idea of achieving the best results with effort and discipline, not from who can pay the most.
The celebration of Carnival must have a positive impact on children and adolescents. It is an opportunity to know and love Venezuela, to carry out activities for peace, and to walk the streets with culture and civic awareness.
