The Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Energy (MPPEE), together with the Sectorial Vice Presidency of Public Works and Services, convened the country's private, industrial, academic and scientific sectors to a technical table where the National Electricity System Recovery Plan (SEN) will be presented, said Minister Rolando Alcalá.
During a special interview on the program A Pulso broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he said that “we are going to have a technical table and some conversations with all these sectors, where the plan for the recovery of the National Electricity System will be presented.”
“The idea is to present it so that everyone has full knowledge of what we are doing, where we are going and, in turn, to hear opinions and recommendations from all these sectors,” he explained.
He said that all entities, private and public, are involved in what is the recovery of the SEN, so intellectuals, professors from universities, industrialists, even telecommunications companies, will be invited.
The activity is part of the milestone recorded this Thursday, May 07, when national electricity demand reached 15,579 MW, a record figure that occurs for the first time in almost a decade, evidencing the increase in economic activity that the nation is experiencing.
“I want to highlight the efforts that Venezuelan engineers, technicians and workers have made to keep the National Electrical System functional. Our electrical system is a robust, well-designed system that stays in operation and we are working, as I have repeated on several occasions, hard, to achieve greater efficiency and greater reliability, which translates into well-being and development for all the sectors that make life in the country,” he said.
On the other hand, Alcalá considered that the SEN is the engine and core factor for all development activities in any society, and for this reason he highlighted the awareness campaign on the use of energy in the country.
In this regard, he stressed that “we are all part of a society and we must all collaborate. How? Us, family members, friends, the general population, making efficient use of energy. How will that be done? Just turning off the light when you don't need to have it on, that's very basic.”
He added that the air conditioner temperature must be kept at 22°C, cell phone chargers must be unplugged and other behaviors that, combined by thousands by millions, result in efficiency and savings. “That's the so-called energy savings, awareness,” he said.
He also confirmed that electrical engineers, technicians and professionals, trained in first-rate Venezuelan universities, are working day and night.
“And we are achieving it and we are going to continue to improve and we will surely guarantee that the system will stabilize, and we will achieve the reliability it requires for a good service,” he said.
