A total of 130 adolescent women, aged between 15 and 25, benefited from the free placement of long-lasting subdermal implants on a day organized by the Ministry of Popular Power for Health in La Guaira.

The operation, carried out at the La Guaira Outpatient Clinic, is the result of a strategic alliance between the ministerial portfolio and the Civil Association for Family Planning (PLAFAM) as part of the campaign to curb the rate of unplanned pregnancies in the region, details a local press release.

The day, which is part of a national deployment with a presence in states such as Anzoátegui and Monagas, offered the method known as Levoplan, which guarantees three-year contraceptive protection. The care included previous pregnancy tests and sexual orientation talks, eliminating the economic barriers that prevent vulnerable populations from accessing these methods in the private market.
