The Ministry of Popular Power for Health activated a protocol aimed at citizens who move to forest areas or parks located in the states of Barinas, Aragua, Lara and Portuguesa, territories under epidemiological surveillance due to the presence of yellow fever.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Isabel Iturria, reported that anyone planning to travel to these areas must take a single dose of the vaccine at least ten days in advance, a measure necessary to guarantee immune protection.
He also indicated that visitors should wear long-sleeved shirts and repellents while staying in risky places.
The protocol provides for three mandatory actions for tourists: preventive vaccination, use of clothing that covers the skin and elimination of mosquito breeding sites in places of stay. The authorities reiterated that these measures are aimed at reducing exposure to the vector and interrupting transmission in priority states.
Since June 2025, the health system has confirmed 36 cases, with a higher incidence in people between 10 and 49 years of age. Therefore, the immunization of the population between 1 and 58 years of age in authorized assistance centers continues.
“The vaccine is completely free and is available from Monday to Sunday at all health posts in the prioritized areas. Our goal is to stop the transmission chain through joint action between Science and organized Popular Power,” said Iturria.
