The Bolivarian Government organized a day of care for patients with heart disease at the Pablo Acosta Ortiz Hospital (HPAO) in San Fernando and pacemakers were implanted, benefiting nine Apure patients.

A highly qualified medical team performed the procedures, which included the placement of unicameral and bicameral pacemakers. The former stimulate one chamber of the heart (usually the ventricle), while the latter act on two chambers (ventricle and atrium), according to a press release from the Ministry of People's Power for Health.

These devices regulate the heart rate, significantly improving patients' quality of life.
