The Ministry of Popular Power for Health, in a joint effort with the Cuban Medical Mission, inaugurated the first exclusive ozone therapy consultation for the treatment of diabetic foot injuries at the Aragua Regional Podiatric Care Center (CARPO).

These are localized therapies where the affected limb is inserted into a special bag that will be inflated with 5% ozonated oxygen and will remain trapped there and acting for 25 minutes. It is a therapy that does not cause any pain and discomfort.

Dr. Shirley Hernández, the sole health authority in the state of Aragüeña, stressed that with this new consultation they will be reinforcing the level of specialized care for patients with diabetes who are a priority in their management.

This ozone therapy will improve ulcer healing by optimizing cellular metabolism with antibacterial, analgesic and antioxidant effects. This translates into a better quality of life for those who have an injury, contributing not only to their physical improvement, but to a faster return to their daily and work activities.
