Miranda Cultors Raise Action Agenda to Strengthen Local Identity

To promote the cultural richness of the Miranda state, a meeting was held with cultivators, heritage expressions and representatives of various communities in Los Valles del Tuy, with the objective of defining strategies and an agenda of action to preserve traditions and promote culture throughout the region.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of different cultural events, such as the Dancing Devils of Yare, the Burras and Burriquitas of the Urdaneta municipality, the Sanjuaneros, Palmeras de Chacao and other traditional groups.

The governor of the state of Miranda, Elio Serrano, emphasized his support for the promotion of culture in the federal territory, “we are going to install houses of culture in each parish, studying and promoting spaces where culture can express itself freely and strengthen our identity,” he said.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of counteracting the negative influence of social networks, and promoting the cultural participation of children and young people, to reduce the use of electronic devices and promote traditional activities such as the construction of parrots, gurrufios and other indigenous expressions.

The regional president emphasized that culture is a strength that must be preserved and strengthened in the face of attacks that seek to devalue the roots of Venezuelans, “from the Government of Miranda State, we support plans and actions to improve cultural infrastructure throughout the territory, guaranteeing adequate spaces for the expression and conservation of our traditions,” he said.

He recalled that the Cultural Mission initiative made it possible to carry out a census of cultivators, to identify their main needs and promote concrete actions to meet them.
