Monagas SC, representing Venezuela, took advantage in the first leg of phase 1 of the Copa Libertadores after beating the Uruguayan team Defensor Sporting 2-0, at the Monumental Stadium in Maturín.

The Barça team took advantage of its quick attacks, the excellent defensive work and the goalkeeper to overcome the Charrúa cast.

After several shots at goal, the Panamanian striker in the service of the Barça, Tomás Rodríguez, was in charge of opening the scoreboard at minute 78′ and the Venezuelan Roger Manrique, at 90′, with a free-throw goal put definitive figures on the match.
