More than a thousand tons of yellowfin tuna carried by the Orinoco II vessel arrived at the port of Cumaná, authorities from the Ministry of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture reported.
The cargo comes from the Pacific Ocean and will be destined for the national production network.
The governor of the entity, Johanna Carrillo, stressed that this action reinforces fishing activity and supports the operation of transformation and conservation facilities.
“The arrival of this vessel boosts the work of Propisca, Avecaisa, Provea and Empresas Polar, consolidating the sector's value chain,” he said.
Carrillo reported that in March, the formal reactivation of industrial fishing will begin, the result of agreements aimed at expanding operational capacity and boosting economic activity related to the sea.
The captain of the ship Orinoco II, Adel Marín, highlighted the crew's commitment to domestic supply and the continuity of maritime activities, stressing that the arrival is part of the efforts to ensure the availability of fish products.
