An unforgettable day under the stars was experienced by the 1,315 people who visited the National Astronomical Observatory (OAN) of Venezuela during the Easter holidays 2026.
Astronomy and space science enthusiasts, including girls and boys, gathered at the facilities of the Foundation Research Center for Astronomy and Applied Technologies (CIDATA) to discover the secrets of the cosmos from the heights of Mérida.
According to a press release, the CIDATA staff warmly welcomed visitors from all over the country, who were fascinated by the spectacular infrastructure of the observatory, strategically located in the Merida paramo.
“From the Bolivarian Government, we appreciate your interest in astronomy and for discovering these wonderful facilities, where you will always be welcome. We had a season like we hadn't seen for a long time, just wonderful,” said the president of CIDATA, Dr. Nomar Villa.
The attendees enjoyed clear skies, a pleasant temperature and careful attention; most of the seasoners came from Caracas (221 visitors), Táchira (132), Carabobo (93) and Lara (71), accompanied by groups from various entities in the country and even international visitors from Colombia.
