For the first time in Latin America, the Anton Chekhov Moscow Art Theater will present the play The Belly, an early prose work by the prominent Soviet writer, Eugeny Zamiatin. This Sunday, April 20, at the National Theater of Caracas, the play will be presented as part of the International Progressive Theater Festival 2025.
The play takes place in a remote provincial corner of 20th century Russia before the October Socialist Revolution, where the author portrays a local family. The narrative becomes a metaphorical action, almost like an opera. The words are sung, says a press release.
The show will be directed by Andrei Goncharov; scenographic design by Konstantin Soloviov; in addition to the cast consisting of Olga Litvinova, Artiom Bystrov, Anton Loban
