The Venezuelan State's mobile operator, MOVILNET, was awarded the 3600-3650 MHz and 3650-3700 MHz frequency bands in the public auction organized by the National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL). With this acquisition, the company consolidates a contiguous 100 MHz block in the 3.5 GHz band, essential for the development of the 5G network.

According to a press release, the availability of 100 MHz of spectrum will allow the company to significantly expand the 5G coverage footprint in the country's major cities and the implementation of new services, moving from a pilot plan to a solid and robust commercial network implementation.

The benefits of this award include the deployment of a network with greater capacity and ultra-fast speeds, the launch of new value services supported by 5G such as the massive Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities and industrial 4.0 solutions, and a significant contribution to closing the digital divide in the country.

“We are leaders in innovation, and obtaining this spectrum is a sign of our firm intention to improve connectivity in the country, as well as to contribute to the digitalization of our society. This is a concrete and significant advance that will allow us to move from the testing phase to a tangible commercial offer of 5G services, gradually generating more value for our customers,” said Asdrúbal Blanco, representative of MOVILNET.

The implementation of a 5G network, with 100 MHz of bandwidth, will mark the beginning of a new era of connectivity in Venezuela, positioning MOVILNET at the forefront of national technological evolution.
