Various social organizations and feminist groups mobilized this Wednesday in different cities in Argentina to commemorate a new day of the Ni Una Menos movement, demanding urgent measures in the face of the increase in gender-based violence.

The demonstration, which takes place in a context of deep concern about the rates of femicide registered in the country over the past year, seeks to make visible the historic demands of equality, security and justice for women and diversity.

Spokespeople for the mobilization stressed the importance of maintaining pressure in the streets in the face of what they consider to be a setback in public policies for the protection and prevention of aggression. During the central event in Buenos Aires, one of the representatives said: “Gender-based violence is not an isolated event, but a structural problem that requires a firm state commitment and guaranteed resources so that no woman is a victim of this reality again.”

The deployment of the days, which takes place under clear slogans against job insecurity and the lack of budget for assistance programs, also seeks to denounce the impunity that surrounds many of the open judicial cases. The demonstrators pointed out that the coordination between the national, provincial and municipal levels is insufficient to provide a comprehensive response that guarantees the physical and economic integrity of those who are in situations of risk.

At the close of the mobilization, a joint document was read, reaffirming that the movement's struggle is not limited to a specific date, but remains constant on the Argentine public agenda.

The organizations concluded that “only through a profound transformation of social paradigms can we eradicate violence and build a society where everyone's life is truly valued and protected.”
