MPPCYT prepares young people for Astronomy Olympics

The Center for Research in Astronomy and Applied Technologies (CIDATA) held the third training day for applicants to the Venezuelan Astronomy Olympics. This is an initiative promoted by the Bolivarian Government, through the ministries of Science and Technology, and Education.
The activity was carried out virtually through the institution's YouTube channel, allowing students from all over the country to connect. According to information provided by the Ministry of People's Power for Science and Technology, the session focused on the study of the Solar System and the Sun-Earth-Moon system.
The physicist, Cristians Marrone, led the review on celestial bodies that orbit under the influence of the stellar gravitational field. During his speech, he explained the composition of planets, asteroids and comets, in addition to addressing Isaac Newton's Law of Universal
Gravitation. For her part, the researcher, Giuliat Navas, implemented interactive dynamics and pedagogical games called “Mission: Exploring the Moon”. Through playful tools such as word puzzles and crossword puzzles, participants reinforced key concepts about moon phases and Earth's orbital interaction, a press release from the ministerial portfolio explained.
