The National Assembly (AN) agreed to raise the symbolic remains of the poet and social fighter, José Pío Tamayo to the National Pantheon, after a tribute was made on March 4th, commemorating the 127th anniversary of his birth.

The president of the AN, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, urged the Permanent Committee on Internal Policy to initiate the corresponding procedures, in order to bring the immortal remains of the revolutionary hero and forerunner of Marxism to the main altar of the Fatherland.

According to the official website of the National Parliament, the proposal was presented by the deputy Luis Fernando Soto Rojas, who said that this illustrious forerunner of the word and of the Revolution has an outstanding historical significance, highlighting his participation against Yankee imperialism, in the times of Cipriano Castro and Juan Vicente Gómez.

He recalled that this outstanding Venezuelan poet and writer called for the construction of socialism; in addition to assuming Marxism and reflecting part of his idealism in one of his poetic works “Homage and Demand of the Indian”.

Pio called for a story in which the collective people were taken into account as a fundamental agent, and in which the redemption of man was above the selfish interests of minorities dedicated to satisfying their own desires.

For that reason, he gave up his life, taught his school of advanced ideality and left, in his scarce 37 years of life, a lesson and an example of life.

Soto emphasized that the People remember the couplets of this courageous Creole hero, who fought tirelessly to rescue Simon Bolivar's ideal of Great Homeland and the emancipatory spirit in Latin America and the Caribbean.
