As part of the national consultation for the elaboration of a proposal for the restructuring and reengineering of the Government, a debate was held this Tuesday with representatives of the National Assembly (AN), in Caracas.
According to a press release from the social vice-presidency, Héctor Rodríguez, head of the Presidential Commission for the Restructuring and Reengineering of the Government, highlighted the importance of involving the Legislative Branch in this process, since “issues will surely arise that will have to go through the legal framework”. He also asked that this Tuesday “be the starting point of a broad debate in the regions, through the deputies, the different committees of the National Assembly and all political sectors” (...) That a debate be generated to achieve consensus (...) It's an issue that, if we work together, will do good for the country,” he concluded. For his part, the first vice-president of the AN, Pedro Infante, said that since the legislative and governmental function is based on “dynamic and continuous” processes, it is prudent to propose that there be a permanent commission in Parliament for restructuring and reengineering that constantly reviews the relevance of laws and adapts them, if necessary, to each historical moment. Infante also considered that the Presidential Commission for the Restructuring and Reengineering of the Government should not remain “just to resolve what is at some point a crisis, a situation” and that “the functioning of Government institutions must be constantly being reviewed and evaluated.
He proposed the formation of a parliamentary team to make an inventory of institutions and procedures that were created by legislative mandate to make them available to the Presidential Commission.
