The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, said that the Parliament is making progress on a set of laws aimed at facilitating foreign investment in the Venezuelan economy
During an interview published by the newspaper El País, Rodríguez explained that the legislative agenda incorporates reforms aimed at updating the legal framework and allowing new capital to enter strategic sectors.
“We are adjusting our rules so that processes related to foreign investment can move forward with clarity and legal certainty,” he said.
He indicated that the AN is working on instruments related to hydrocarbons, mining and other productive areas, in order to accompany economic growth and offer stable rules to international investors, while adding that these initiatives seek to strengthen the country's competitiveness vis-à-vis other producers.
The parliamentarian argued that the progressive lifting of sanctions is an issue that must be addressed urgently, due to their impact on the oil industry and the financial system, so that the country requires conditions to recover production and attract capital.
Rodríguez reported that the Government maintains a process of dialogue with sectors of the opposition that act within the constitutional framework, including political actors who reside abroad.
He specified that the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence contemplates situations linked to acts of political violence and seeks to consolidate a climate of institutional respect.
He stressed that the legislative agenda responds to a sovereign schedule aimed at boosting economic activity and improving the well-being of the population.
