On Tuesday, the Parliament expressed its support for the Grand National Consultation on Criminal Justice Reform, launched last Monday by the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, with the objective of collecting proposals from various sectors of the country to strengthen the Venezuelan judicial system.
In this regard, the Plenary of the Parliament approved the agreement presented by the deputy Maria Gabriela Vega (PSUV /La Guaira), who justified the reasons why the consultation is being undertaken for the reform of the criminal justice system.
Vega, stated that the reform of the criminal justice system represents a structural debt to the Venezuelan people, who could not wait any longer. In addition, he specified that this reform must streamline processes through the use of technology and the decongestion of the courts.
For his part, the deputy of the National Assembly Felix Freites considered that criminal justice reform must respond to institutional strengthening.
In this regard, he proposed that the general inspectorates of courts, as well as the Internal Affairs departments of State security bodies, be the recipients of complaints that may be made by citizens, this to guarantee the right to justice.
