In a key step to strengthen the organization and protection of small-scale mining workers, the Minister of Popular Power for Ecological Mining Development, Héctor Silva, together with the Deputy Minister of Monitoring and Control of Economic Development, Luis Pérez, certified more than 100 Mining Brigades in the Gasolina sector of El Callao, Bolívar state.
From the multipurpose field of this mining community, Silva stressed that this process responds to President Nicolás Maduro's strategy of consolidating an organized and sustainable mining management model, guaranteeing labor rights and promoting a positive impact on the environment.
“Thanks to the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro and the efforts of the Mining Engine, we continue to make progress in consolidating strategies that protect and strengthen gold activity in the country,” said Minister Silva.
The holder of the mining portfolio described this first act of certification as a milestone in the transformation of the sector, highlighting that the Mining Brigades represent a key tool for the organization and empowerment of the community.
“This is a dream come true. It could not be achieved without the commitment of you, the organized miners and miners. This management model allows them to be guarantors of their rights and for us to work together in the development of a more planned and sustainable mining,” he said.
Silva also reaffirmed his ministry's support for workers in the sector and announced that his technical team is available to accompany initiatives that improve mining practices and reduce their environmental impact.
“We have plans and alternatives to reforest affected areas and, at the same time, ensure that mining continues to develop in an organized manner. President Maduro believes in you, in your work and in your capacity to contribute to the country's economic growth,” he emphasized.
