Tomorrow, May 8, the National Government will present the new guidelines of the Electric Service Recovery and Transformation Plan, while announcing the measure to ban digital mining activity due to the high consumption of this activity, at a time when the country has reached record figures in energy consumption.

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela informs the Venezuelan people that today, May 07, 2026, we have reached a milestone in electricity demand in the country, which reached a record figure of 15,579 Megawatts (MW), the highest in the last nine years,” the Executive announced in a statement published this Thursday.

The sector vice president of Public Works and Services, Juan José Ramírez Luces, also reported that he prohibits digital mining activity using computer farms to mine cryptocurrency in the national territory.
