National Senior Athletics Championship set under-23 records and personal records in endurance and speed

The National Senior Athletics Championship left good feelings, including a national under-23 record and personal records in endurance and speed events.

The Guairense Oscar Rodríguez clocked the best national time under 23 in the final of the 400 meters hurdles with a time of 50.58 and became champion over Mirandino Roineld Lara with 51.32.

The third place in the 400 hurdles went to Emmanuel Herrera from the country with 52.87.

For his part, the Sucrense player Orangys Jiménez, who had already recorded the best Venezuelan time in the absolute 100 straight with 11.19, completed his feat crowning the double hectometer with personal time of 23 seconds flat.

The second place was completed by sprinter Ainhoa Rengifo, who with 23.73 and the third was for Hilary Rivas from Aragüeña, who returned to the national speed podium with 23.95.

Meanwhile, José Maita returned to the top of the national 800 meters by completing a strategic race with a time of 1:47.42, followed by Carabobeño Ryan López with 1:47.66 and in third place the Monaguense under-20 Julio Chirinos with 1:49.08.

Finally, after a maternity break that took her away from official competitions during the previous year 2025, the long-distance runner from Guariqueña María Ascanio marked her return to high competition on the national scene with a victorious debut in the 3,000 meters with obstacles.

Ascanio clocked 11:34.37 to claim the highest honors against Mirandina Valery Parra with 12:23.67.
