National Supermarket Association guarantees 98% of supply in the country after earthquakes

The president of the National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Services (ANSA), Ítalo Atencio, sent a message of peace of mind to the entire country, confirming that the sector maintains a supply level of 98% after the recent earthquakes. He explained that, although opening hours were initially affected until transportation was accelerated, nervous purchases decreased over the days thanks to the guarantee of inventories, which turned supermarkets into points of encounter and calm for communities.

With regard to distribution in the regions with the greatest impact, the spokesperson detailed the logistics strategy implemented for the central coast. In this regard, Atencio said: “We defined a scheme for La Guaira. We divided it into four sectors from Naiguatá onward, where there was less impact. The product went from the collection centers to there, then Caraballeda went to the Caribbean; it was ground zero, where we checked every day how the supply was.”

Regarding the physical infrastructure of businesses in the national territory, the union representative reported that the network is almost fully operational. Specifically, it reported that only two locations affiliated with ANSA were affected by the seismic events of last June 24 and are currently under technical review in yellow status, while the rest of the establishments are still working normally.

“We study countries with seismic events such as ours, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru. The common element was international aid and the solidarity of the People, a path of growth that we know we have and from which we will emerge stronger,” he stressed.
