The Venezuelan national youth golf team will begin its participation in the 2026 South American Team Championship, this Thursday, March 26, in Santiago de Chile.

The women's team is led by María Mercedes Tablante, leader of the women's national youth ranking with 1,526 points, as a result of her triumphs in the youth and youth invitations in the La Lagunita Amateur Tournament.

She is joined by the current national youth champion, Michelle Barrios, and Elisa Hernández, according to a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports.

In men's category, Andrés Martínez, South American youth runner-up 2025 and current leader of the men's youth ranking with 2,115 points, will see action, backed by Santiago Navarro and Daniel Mena.

The Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, emphasized that golfers have full support to represent the national tricolor in international events and wished them every success in the South American Championship.

Cardillo stressed that the Venezuelan Golf Federation is one of the sports entities that has provided relevant national and international results and confirmed his trust in the delegation of pole players.

“We are sure that this team will do the same for Venezuela and for its flag in Chilean lands, where they will fight to give their maximum performance and fight for medals,” he said.

The tournament will take place from March 26 to 29 at the Dehesa Club facilities in Santiago de Chile, with the participation of delegations from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and the host Chile.

This competition will serve as preparation for the Venezuelan athletes who will participate in the next South American Youth Games Panama 2026 in April.
