In
Plaza Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi de La Asunción, in the Arismendi municipality of the state of Nueva Esparta,
the 20th International Book Fair of
Venezuela (FILVEN) will be held from May 15 to 17 under the motto Reading transforms.
New
Spartans will be able to access editorial news and attend the meeting with honored
authors and local and national guests.
As part of the program, there will be
book presentations, including new titles published by the Ministry of Popular Power
for Culture through The Dog and the Frog, Monte Ávila and the
Ayacucho Library, as well as talks, conferences and workshops. The girls and boys will have the
traditional children's ward.
In addition to paying homage to Benito Yrady as a
national writer, FILVEN Nueva Esparta will recognize in this new edition the literary work
of Maury Valero and Régulo Hernández.
Among the invited authors will be Cósimo Mandrillo,
from the state of Zulia, author of essays and children's narrative works,
researcher of Venezuelan and Spanish-American literature.
The 20th FILVEN also pays tribute this year to
South Africa, to the Ayacucho Library for its 50 years, to the magazine Tricolor for
its 75 years and to the novel Ifigenia, by Teresa de la Parra, for the centenary of its publication.
These regional editions of the country's greatest literary festival are organized by the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, through the National Book Center (CENAL) and State Cabinets of Culture, in coordination with regional authorities.
