The National Book Center (CENAL) announced the 2026 call for Grants to Encourage Literary Creation, which will remain open for the reception of proposals until August 31, 2026.
This year, this call adds an exclusive line of Cinematographic Research created to commemorate 60 years of preservation and dissemination work undertaken by the National Cinemateca.
For the first time, the program will allocate five specific grants to projects dedicated to the study, analysis and documentation of Venezuelan audiovisual heritage. The idea is that each one of them supports a different thematic line, thus stimulating new theoretical views on cinema and its fundamental role in the country's cultural identity.
The call is addressed to Venezuelan and foreign researchers resident in the country, provided that they are of legal age. They will be able to apply for their projects in any of the following areas: Cinema and women; History of Venezuelan cinema; Latin American cinema and reality; Experiences in audiovisual heritage management and cinema as a tool for peace and coexistence.
The selected projects will receive a monthly economic contribution equivalent to the current comprehensive minimum income in Venezuela for six months, between October 2026 and March 2027.
Applications will be managed completely online through the official website of the National Book Center (https://cenal.gob.ve/) with the idea of facilitating the participation of creators throughout the territory.
