Venezuelan rider Orluis Aular was 3 seconds behind the Joaquin Agostinho Trophy gold medal in Portugal.
The Venezuelan took second place after finishing the 8-kilometer time trial with a time of 9:58.43. He was only surpassed by the Portuguese Rafael Reis (9:54.71) and in third place went to Johansen Luis (10:05.98).
“The truth is that I felt quite well, I gave everything. It was a very technical time trial, with a lot of curve. I think I was able to keep up the pace for the 8 kilometers and reach the top in the end,” said Aular, a press review by Caja Rural Seguros RGA
The Venezuelan said that he knew that the best time on the route was 10:07, I wanted to try to improve it and I was able to do it. “The goal for my part from now on will be to compete in the next two stages and fight the general standings with my teammates on the last day,” he added.
The Portuguese race will continue this Friday with the first online stage, an undulating fraction of 171 kilometers between Foz do Arelho and Lourinhã. The champion will be announced on Sunday, July 14 at Alto de Monteunto.
