The Civic-Military Rebellion of February 4, 1992, rather than seeing it as an armed act, must be seen as an act of love, of solidarity, of historical consequence in the face of the excesses of the ruling classes of the Fourth Republic, said the Minister of Defense, G/J Vladimir Padrino López.
In this regard, during an event to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the Day of National Dignity, he recalled that this revolt led by the Supreme Commander, Hugo Chávez, was a protest that accompanied the popular revolt of February 27 against neoliberalism, against inequality, against poverty.
In the same way, he criticized the fact that there are those who intend to minimize Commander Chávez's action that February 4th. “I think they have a wrong perception of history, that 4-F was a victory for the Fatherland and the people applauded it because they were waiting for it,” he said.
“It's a fact of continuity of the struggle. Yesterday it was against false democracy, against hypocrisy, against the moral degradation of a system that called itself democracy. Today it was the military aggression against Venezuela, because an independence and revolutionary project like ours will always have North American imperialism as its enemy. It is still the same struggle as in 1992, what characterizes the historical continuity of recent years is the coherence along the flags of sovereignty, freedom and independence,” he said from the La Montaña Barracks from where he referred to the challenges that our country currently faces.
In the same way, the senior military official stressed that, even with the geopolitical changes and the new realities that we are experiencing, the imprint of Hugo Chávez on the political and social life of Venezuela and, in particular, on the heart of the Armed Forces is indelible.
“Chávez's legacy is humanist, eminently social, one of justice, that legacy will live on and for that legacy we will fight,” he emphasized.
