Surviving families in Gaza struggle to find joy during Ramadan amid war devastation, economic hardship and displacement.

In the multiple camps for displaced persons such as Al-Mawasi, parents try to feed their children with the little food available, most of it coming from humanitarian assistance, while remembering with nostalgia the celebrations they used to live during this time.

The more than two years of Israeli genocide have obscured the joy that Ramadan used to represent for them.

Ramadan began on Wednesday in Gaza. It's usually a time of fasting from dawn to dusk, family reunions, spiritual devotion, reflection, and generosity.

The blessed month for Muslims ceased to be a time of joy among displaced families in Gaza who have managed to survive attacks and famine. In many camps, the only thing to break the fast is humanitarian aid.
