The tenth edition of the Palestine International Marathon began this Friday with the participation of thousands of runners in Bethlehem and the Gaza Strip. Under the slogan “We run for freedom”, local and foreign athletes came together to reactivate this sporting event of global relevance. The event seeks to make visible the movement restrictions faced by the population due to the occupation situation in the region.

“We run for freedom”, was the main slogan of this day, which marks the return of competition after two years of suspension due to the conflict. The organizers emphasized that the race is a symbol of resilience in the face of the adversities of war. For the Palestinian people, resuming this route means reaffirming their identity and their right to self-determination through sport.

The sporting activity served as a platform to denounce the physical barriers that fragment the territory and limit daily development. The presence of international runners reinforced the solidarity nature of the day, turning the streets of Belén into a stage of global visibility. Despite logistical challenges, the call exceeded initial expectations for participation.

“The event marks its return after two years of suspension due to the Israeli war,” the promoters emphasized at the close of the activity.

With this marathon, Palestinian society sends a message of strength and hope for the future. The successful completion of this tenth edition lays the groundwork for the recovery of other cultural and social spaces across the country.
